Some Things to Sing About
Getting a book to take flight is no easy task, but this second novel of mine has left the nest! (Okay, I’ll stop the puns…eventually…) Some exciting things have been happening, and I can finally begin sharing them!

February: Writing Workshop in Saratoga Springs, New York
February 8, 2026: I will be teaching a workshop on getting started writing Historical Fiction here in Saratoga Springs, New York! Hosted by and held at the beautiful Botanica Books, this 90-minute workshop will focus on how to begin researching and planning your own historical fiction journey.
Places at the table are limited, so reserve yours here!
March: Appalachian Studies Association 49th Annual Conference Presentations in Huntington, West Virginia
March 19-21, 2026: Not one, but two proposals of mine have been accepted for presentation at the 49th Annual Appalachian Studies Conference! Even better, this year’s conference will be in Huntington, West Virginia, which is basically “back home” for me (just a little skip over the Ohio River). Growing up, Huntington was where we went for a “fancy” dinner out, which basically meant the Red Lobster or the Olive Garden out by the mall.
At this year’s conference, I will present a teaching workshop on my use of the novel Demon Copperhead in my intro to literary studies course. I’ve watched so many students react to Demon’s struggles—and connect with them.
I will also be doing the first official public reading for Whippoorwill Sing! The conference schedule is not yet posted, but as soon as it, I can share my exact presentation times.
June: Whippoorwill Sing Official Launch Event at Northshire Books in Saratoga Springs, New York
June 4, 6:00pm: And here it is—the OFFICIAL launch, reading, and signing for Whippoorwill Sing! The start of summer is already the perfect time of year, but when you add historic Saratoga to it? Magic happens!
Early reviews are coming in for Whippoorwill Sing! Check out the latest from authors Chrissy Hicks and Sharon Mabry! Hicks writes, “Whippoorwill Sing by Khristeena Lute is a tour de force searing with emotional resonance that will draw you in with its lyrically precise, achingly beautiful prose.”
Join me for this reading—and pick up a copy of Finding Grace & Grit, too! Northshire is the only northeast shop that keeps copies in stock!
